For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. The King will reply, I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me.

Matthew 25:35-36, 40 NIV

St. Paul United Methodist Church is a beacon of hope for those living in poverty in East Dayton. We continue to live out our servanthood calling in partnership with the community.

Food Pantry

In conjunction with the Greater Dayton Food Pantry, our church volunteers and the many local businesses that generously donate a wide variety of food products, we strive to address food insecurity in our neighborhood by operating a food pantry. We try to keep it stocked with appropriate items that can sustain life for impoverished individuals and families. We operate a “choice” pantry, which can best be described as a very small grocery store in the church basement. Each client is escorted through one at a time and offered a choice of items depending on availability. We also have a hospitality room run by volunteers for clients to take a coffee or refreshment while waiting to be served. We try to make a trip to our food pantry a pleasant experience, a blessing for those in need. We strive to live up to the words from that hymn on Christian Love that urges us “to guard each one’s dignity and save each one’s pride!"

Please note that you must live in the area that we serve, which is a part of zip code 45403. Please call to verify eligibility. You must provide proof of address and picture ID for everyone in the home.

If you wish to know more about our food pantry and help us out by volunteering or donating food items, please call. Certain food items become critically short at certain times, so we consistently need volunteers to help fill the gaps. Again please call if the Spirit moves you and we will tell you what we need.

Community Meals

We provide meals on several days of the week. This is done using our own kitchen, with the help of volunteers, but we also have the good fortune to have a number of sister churches in the greater Dayton area who provide meals. They come to us on a regular cycle and we are indebted to them for their remarkable financial and spiritual generosity. Please use this link to see the details of the churches and organizations that support us in our endeavors to serve the needs of our community.

St. Paul Community Meal Schedule

The Life Enrichment Center is a faith-based, nonprofit organization providing life-building and life-sustaining services to the less fortunate in the Dayton and surrounding communities. It provides these services through the serving of meals, the distribution of groceries and the offering of a host of practical programs.
